Work with us · distribution

Carry VAN brands in your territory.

The distributor route is the simplest way to work with VAN: our brands, our registrations, our agronomy behind you. Sold under your relationships, in your market. This page sets out what you get, what we ask, and how territory works.

01What VAN puts behind you

4 things: the catalogue, 28 crop programmes, brand material, and training with demonstration plots.

What it is
The catalogueThe range in the pack sizes the trade actually moves, on agreed lead times. What is available to you is the open catalogue. All 23 brands, Vital Urea included.
28 crop programmesStage by stage, with product, rate and method for each stage. Your customer buys a full programme rather than a single bag, which gives you a reason to sell him the next one.
Brand materialArtwork, literature and point-of-sale material carrying VAN branding, so your territory looks like a supported brand and not a stack of plain sacks.
Training and demonstration plotsWe train your team on the products before you sell them, and run demonstration plots in your territory before launch. A distributor who has seen the crop respond sells differently from one who has read a leaflet.
02How territory works

How a territory becomes exclusive.

A territory starts non-exclusive. Against a committed volume, met over an agreed period, it converts to exclusive and is reviewed annually on the same basis.

We would rather say that plainly than promise exclusivity at the first meeting and take it back later. It also means a territory is never locked up by someone who is not working it, which protects the distributors who are.

03The range

What you would be carrying.

CategoryWhat it covers
NitrogenSulfur-coated urea. The coated-nitrogen answer to volatilisation on alkaline ground
PhosphorusHumic-coated and acidic phosphate grades built against calcium fixation
PotashSolid and liquid potash for the reproductive window
NPK blendsBalanced and stage-specific grades
MicronutrientsChelated zinc, boron and iron that stay available in alkaline soil
Secondary nutrientsSulfur, magnesium and calcium grades
Soil health & biologicalsHumates, compost and bio-fertilizer

Would rather sell it under your own name? Most of the catalogue is open for own-brand manufacturing. Same specification, same line, your brand on the pack.

04Questions we are asked first

The answers, before you have to ask for them.

12 questions that come up in every first conversation, answered here rather than saved for a meeting. The volume, the lead times and the credit position are all on this page, in the terms VAN actually works to.

What is the minimum order, and the maximum?

A batch starts at 1 tonne. A single lot is up to 50 tonnes, and the line runs up to 4 lots a week. There is no minimum on the order itself. VAN is a manufacturer with its own plant, so the plant schedules a batch to the size of your order, and a first order does not have to be a container. Pack sizes are the standard ones on the approved label; a distributor carrying VAN brands takes the pack the registration names.

How long from order to shipment?

VAN makes to ship rather than selling from stock, so the clock starts when the order is confirmed. 1 to 10 tonnes: 3 to 5 days. 11 to 100 tonnes: 7 to 18 days. Above 100 tonnes it is scheduled with you rather than quoted from a table, because that is a production plan, not a despatch.

Do you give credit?

No. Working capital is the distributor’s side of this. VAN is in the business of manufacturing, and the price reflects that rather than carrying finance inside it. VAN says this at the first meeting so that it is not a surprise on the first invoice.

Can I book ahead?

Yes. VAN takes advance bookings against a cash discount, which is the other side of not giving credit: you pay earlier and get a lower price instead of getting credit terms. It also lets the plant schedule production for your season in advance.

How long from signing to the first delivery?

15 days from account opening, once the dealership formalities are complete. That is the first consignment, not the first sample: the account, the paperwork and the production slot inside 15 days.

What margin do I make?

There is no single number, and a page that printed one would be quoting a figure VAN would then have to defend on every product and every volume. It is driven by the portfolio you carry and the volume you move, and it is settled at the commercial stage with the range in front of both of us.

Is the territory exclusive?

It starts non-exclusive. Against a committed volume, met over an agreed period, it converts to exclusive, and it is reviewed annually on the same basis. We would rather say that at the first meeting than promise exclusivity and take it back later, and it means a territory is never locked up by someone who is not working it.

Which products can I carry?

The open catalogue. All 23 brands, Vital Urea included. That is the range on this page: nitrogen, phosphorus, potash, NPK blends, micronutrients, secondary nutrients and the soil-health line.

Whose brand goes on the bag?

VAN’s, unless you would rather it were yours. Most of the catalogue is open for own-brand manufacturing. The same specification, made on the same line, with your brand on the pack. That route has its own page.

What do I get besides stock?

4 things: the range in the pack sizes the trade actually moves on agreed lead times; the 28 crop programmes, so your customer gets a programme rather than a bag; VAN-branded literature and point-of-sale material; and training for your team plus demonstration plots run in your territory before launch.

Can I see the products working before I commit?

That is what the demonstration plots are for. They run in your own territory, before launch, on your own soil and your own crops. A distributor who has watched the crop respond sells differently from one who has read a leaflet.

Who holds the product registration?

VAN. The brands you would be carrying are registered by VAN and the licences are published. The regulatory page lists them, with numbers and dates, rather than asking you to take it on trust.
