From Brief to Bag

Seven steps between an idea and a registered product on a dealer's shelf. VAN runs all seven, including the one most manufacturers hand back to you.

Your brief

Market, crop, stage, target price, pack format, and the constraint you are actually trying to beat.

You lead
Diagnostics

Soil, crop and water context for the territory the product is aimed at, so the formulation answers that ground rather than an average one.

Joint
Formulation

Bench work in the VAN lab: ratio, form, coating, chelation, solubility, pH and compatibility.

VAN leads
Pilot batch

Produced on the same equipment that will run the commercial lot, so what works in the pilot still works at scale.

VAN leads
Field validation

Trials on VAN's research farm and, where you want them, on your own demonstration plots.

Joint
Registration

PSQCA standard selection, dossier and licensing — handled by VAN. One certificate, valid nationwide.

VAN leads
Launch

Commercial production, certificate of analysis per lot, technical documentation and training material for your field team.

Joint
Then: your season

Repeat batches run to the frozen specification. Any change to that specification is a documented change, not a quiet one.

Ongoing
Brief to first commercial lot: about six to nine months. That figure assumes field validation and registration run in parallel, which is how VAN sequences it. Bench formulation and the pilot batch take the first two to three months; validation covers one growing season across two crops; the registration file moves alongside it rather than after it; and the first commercial run follows within a month of the licence. The range is indicative and moves with the crop calendar and the authority, not with VAN.

What you receive

The documentation set is the same one VAN maintains for its own brands, which is why it already exists rather than being assembled for you.

The confidentiality firewall

Client-exclusive developments are never displayed, never cross-sold, and never become VAN brands. VAN's own brands are its showcase, and they are built from VAN's own library. Your brief, your analysis, your trial data and your name stay inside your project. Competitors have shared a production schedule at VAN for years without either of them losing anything, and that only works because this line is absolute rather than negotiable.

Where registration sits in the timeline

Most co-manufacturing relationships break at step six. The formulation is finished, the pilot is good, and then the brand owner discovers that a licence takes a season to obtain and the selling window has closed. VAN treats registration as part of the build rather than as your problem afterwards — the same team that has taken VAN's own products through PSQCA takes yours.
