A crop draws each nutrient in a different amount, at a different moment in its season. Three grades, built to that shape rather than to what the market already buys.

Three grades

One per segment. Each is a compound built around the stage where the crop's demand actually peaks — not a general-purpose bag asked to cover everything.

Carries maize and sugarcane through the potash-hungry middle of the season — in a granule that spreads on the equipment the farm already owns, with the sulphur and zinc built into the same prill instead of applied as a second pass.

Feeds the fruit-fill window on mango, banana and date palm — without putting chloride anywhere near a salinity-exposed root zone, which is what rules muriate-based potash out of these orchards in the first place.

Goes down the drip line at bulb and fruit filling — potato, onion, garlic, tomato, capsicum, chilli. Fully water-soluble at injection strength, so it arrives with the water at the stage the crop is actually drawing.

Potash is the largest number in all three.

Not nitrogen. Every crop where whole-season uptake has been measured removes more potash than nitrogen, and markedly less phosphate than either — the same order, without exception across the crops reviewed. These grades are weighted to that order.

And most of it is needed late.

Demand is not flat across a season. It climbs into the reproductive and filling stages — long after a single dressing at sowing has been applied and taken up. That is why each grade is designed around two applications, positioned by growth stage.

Why one bag cannot do all three

The physical requirement differs by segment before any ratio is chosen.

Field crops

Granular, soil-applied, spread with existing equipment. Sulphur and zinc carried in the prill.

Rules out anything needing fertigation the field does not have
Orchards

Chloride-free. A sulphate base rather than a chloride one, on agronomic and salinity grounds alike.

Rules out muriate-based potash where chloride sensitivity is real
Horticulture

Fully water-soluble, clean through drip and fertigation lines at injection strength.

Rules out granular product, and anything that drops out of solution

Where this stands

All three grades are in development. Initial trials are running at VAN's own R&D centre, and no trial result or yield figure is reported on this page.
